All supplies and instructions necessary to create your own unique Fur Trade Era style metal bladed knife. Kit features a hand forged steel blade, pre-cut antler shed handle stock, natural animal hide glue, rawhide hafting material, and instructions. This kit provides all the supplies needed to create your own Fur Trade Style Knife. Kit includes: Hand Forged Metal Knife Blade (1/3 tang) Pre-Cut and Sized Rough Antler Handle Stock Hafting Material Animal Hide Glue Ochre Pigments Instructions This kit shows you how to use animal hide glue, apply hafting, and includes many other suggestions to help you be successful in your project. After gluing and hafting the blade to the handle try carving, etching, and decorating to make this knife a unique masterpiece. The antler handle in this knife kit is usually cut from the upper beam section of a mule deer antler shed (not crown section). Handles will vary in size, color, and shape, may include some pithy areas, and may have some weathering and micro cracks due to them being naturally shed instead of live harvested from a deer. We find that using naturally aged components add a great overall look to the final piece, especially when waxed and polished after the knife has been crafted. The blade itself is sold with the edge nicely beveled but not super sharp. Can be sharpened to your projects specifications easily. Blade is approx 9 3/4 in. x 1 3/4 with 2 in. tang.
