Harness Needles

Size #1, 19 Gauge, 2-3/8", Package 5 Harness needles are used for saddle stitching leather with an awl to pierce the holes. These needles blunt points prevent piercing the thread as it goes through the hole. #1 is heaviest and best for holsters, saddles, etc., while #6 is best for fine work like lightweight bindings. For general, #3 is a good size. $10.75 5/pk

These heavy needles, with sharp, triangular points that easily pierce leather, are designed specially for sewing hides. The 4G is the largest glovers needle, and is approximately 1-1/2” long. Great for sewing buckskin or suede.

These short, stiff needles are best suited for lazy stitch or applique work sewn directly to buckskin or cloth, beaded earrings, gourd stitch, etc., and are also good for sewing leather.

Beading Needles

Primarily used in loomwork, these long thin needles also work quite well when doing gourd stitch and beaded earrings. The needle size indicates the smallest bead size for which it is designed. However, a smaller size needle must be used when it will pass through the bead twice, as in gourd stitch or earring work.
